Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe?  Is it mistake-proof?  Is it warranty-friendly ?

Yes, yes and yes. Clear mXt®, and mXt9 are completely non-hazardous and OHS approved. Easy to use in any size tank, Clear mXt® and mXt 9 are classified as diesel so over or under dosing is not dangerous. Clear mXt® is diluted at 1:16,000 for diesel, so your engine warranties remain valid.  This is well below 5%, which is the accepted standard for bio-diesel additions to regular diesel fuel by OEM manufacturers. The dilution for mXt9 (our product for HFO) is 1:36,000. Additionally, Clear mXt and mXt9 both meet current diesel fuel standards in their raw form and when combined with regular diesel fuel.

Is the base for the liquid catalysts ecofriendly ?

The supplier of the diesel used as a base for our liquid catalysts has the following certificates: ISO 9001:2000, HACCP, GMP and ISO 14001 for environment. For more information their company website  is http://www.morakot.com/

Will it work with other fuel and environmental enhancement systems?

Yes again. Clear mXt® and mXt 9 complement all existing mechanical fuel and environmental protection systems (e.g. “Ad Blue” used in trucks) and works in all diesel engines from 4-wheel drives to commercial fishing fleets and trucking fleets.

Does Clear mXt or mXt9 mix with water or damage water separators ?

Since all of our liquid catalysts have very similar characteristics to diesel and HFO they do not mix with water under any circumstances, also there is no damage short or long term with water separators or fuel filters of any type.

Do your liquid catalysts have any issues with gelling ?

When combined with fuel our catalysts do not change the gelling characteristics of the fuel; in storage before mixing our liquid catalysts have the same gelling characteristics as diesel fuels. They will begin to gel in temperatures below minus 6 degrees centigrade.

What is the most effective way of dosing tanks with the liquid catalyst ?

For all our liquid catalysts they are mixed with the base fuel before going to the engine. This can be in any tank where the fuel is stored or in-line during delivery. For tanks this is best done before filling or topping up; this means that the catalyst is mixed thoroughly before the engine is running. The catalysts will naturally spread out in the fuel during use, as the movement of the fuel in the tank will assist with the mixing process.

I want to make a purchase – how do I go about it?

How do TK Fuels products compare with other catalysts ?

Our products are more than twice as effective as other fuel catalysts on the market in terms of emissions control and economy. Our products are not fuel conditioners or cleaners or biocides, but they will complement all these treatments and have the same characteristic 10% net savings used with or without other fuel treatments. Having said this, it is not recommended to use our products with other catalysts. It may not be beneficial to use our products with fuel conditioners because, indirectly, our products have a powerful cleaning effect by burning the fuel almost completely, with little waste building up in harmful deposits. Additionally, our products will clean currently dirty engines but this effect is indirect and is a result of almost complete combustion.

Why are there no TK Fuels products for petrol or other light fuels ?

Our products are designed for diesel, biodiesel, heavy fuel oil, coal and gas. Whilst our liquid catalysts will not damage petrol or other types of engines, they are not designed for these types of fuel so will not give significant benefits. We may produce versions of our products for petrol, kerosene and ethanol in the future, but we will naturally only do this after we have conducted rigorous research and development, quality control and product testing processes.

What grades of heavy fuel oil can be used with mXt9 ?

We always recommend using the best possible grade of HFO.  This is because low grades of HFO can drastically shorten an engine's life. Our product for HFO (mXt9) will work in the same dilution ratio with all types and grades of HFO.

What types of diesel fuel can be used with Clear mXt ?

Clear mXt is consistently effective when used correctly with all types of diesel, including 100% biodiesels and biodiesel blends.

Will a TK Fuels product affect my warranty?DNV Results for mXt9 Testing.

Our liquid catalyst Clear mXt has passed an independant test to current standards : Clear mXt Test Results to Australian Standards - CLM03634. For all diesel engine this is the ISO standard that engine and parts manufacturers require fuels to meet for the warranty to remain vaild. Additionally mXt9 meets established standards for bunker oil or HFO : DNV Testing of mXt9 - SNG0901374

Will a biodiesel based catalyst like Clear mXt wreck my engine ?

Our liquid catalysts are added at a dilution of less than 0.01%. Engine manufacturers are especially cautious about new fuels, but some of the biggest names in the diesel world (e.g. Cummings) have cleared up to 20% biodiesel from doing any harm. Caltex, for instance, now blends all mineral diesel fuels with approximately 5% biodiesel by default.

Will Clear mXt work with 100% biodiesels ?

Clear mXt will significantly increase the thermal efficiency and consequently the MPG and power output for 100% biodiesel fuels. This means that biodiesel with an mXt product is difficult to distinguish from 100% regular diesel without mXt technology; in some cases biodiesel plus mXt has been shown to outperform untreated mineral diesel by 4.3%.
