Molecular Xenogenic-fuel Technology is a ground-breaking science which significantly improves combustion efficiency by removing the intermolecular force which causes fuel molecules to cluster. A tiny amount of mXt9 in its concentrated form (1:36,000) mixed with the fuel oil results in significant fuel savings and greatly reduced harmful emissions. Additionally, mXt9 does not change the viscosity or density of fuel oil of any grade; this means that current fuel treatment systems, such as those that remove water, will not be affected by the addition of mXt9.
- mXt9 is a revolutionary new formula solution discovered through molecular science which increases combustion efficiency, thereby reducing your fuel costs.
- mXt9 has a high flash point of 120 degrees centigrade and has a similair chemical profile to diesel fuel.
- mXt9 has passed IMO standards in its raw form and when mixed with 380 grade fuel oil. Additionally, Wartsila have issued a letter of no objection for the use of mXt9 in their engines (for certification of these achievements please contact us).
- mXt9 works on the concept of reducing the attractive intermolecular forces and evenly distributes the fuel molecules, thus enabling complete combustion.
- mXt9 reduces the carbon footprints, by less fuel being utilised for the same requirements.
- mXt9 reduces sludge build up in settling tanks mean less of your valuable fuel is wasted in sludge.
- mXt9 reduces soot and CO in flue gas, which is caused by incomplete combustion
- mXt9 is compatible with all kinds of external combustion industrial furnaces and boilers and is eco-friendly.
- mXt9 is suitable for every type of fuel oil, from Marine Diesel Oil to Heavy Fuel Oil.
Just as there are in other areas of industry, cargo shipping has its share of economic pressures. One of these is related to fuel. Even though marine transport is the most energy efficient and environmentally friendly mode of transportation, it is still necessary to continue reviewing operational policies, to increase fuel efficiency and minimise the impact on the environment. If you were told that you can make your ships more fuel-efficient and significantly reduce the amount of pollution entering the environment at the same time, wouldn’t you want to know more? Not only that, but that the catalyst is 100% safe for your engine because the same burn characteristics of the fuel are experienced, but in a more complete form. We have already received approval from Wartsila for use in their engines and are in the process of obtaining the same from MAN. mXt9 is not classified as hazardous so it is safe for your staff and the environment in case of spillage.
Many large boilers, furnaces and large engines utilise oil fired combustion. It is a safe to handle liquid catalyst that can be added at any point before combustion.
The dosing system depends largely on the volume of
HFO taken on during bunkering. Generally, mXt9 is dosed at the point of
refuelling on the ship side from where the fuel barge connects the hose. There is
normally a small valve for taking samples. We add a one way valve with a 10 bar
rating, then the mX9 is pumped in during refuelling, normally at a rate of
approximately 30/l per hour. A flow meter is also used to feed back to the pump
in case of a change in flow during refuelling. A separate tank for the mXt9
would normally be designed for refilling every month.
All costs for dosing systems design, maintenance and
calibration is the responsibility of TK Fuels.
A major secondary effect is the drastic reduction in particles in combustion chambers, which means fewer particles in lubricating oils and all parts of the exhaust systems.
How does it work ?
A revolutionary effect in fuel clusters, unlike other liquid additives, which merely have a mild cleansing effect and a reduced viscosity effect, mXt9 improves combustion efficiency and reduces emissions by breaking down fuel clusters. Subsequently, the previously trapped fuel molecules are not wasted (reducing emissions), but are burnt (improving combustion).
The video below is from an actual test site that consumes approximately 65,000 litres of HFO each day; the changes shown occurred within 15 minutes. The addition of mXt9 results in the wider and longer, brighter flame, which can be clearly seen by the naked eye. The video below illustrates that when mXt9 is combined with the Bunker Fuel, visible changes occur. This means the flow rate can be reduced to achieve the same heating output (thus saving fuel) because more fuel molecules can be burnt completely. In an environment where Bunker Fuel is used for driving an engine, this results in the same power output for significantly less fuel.
TK Fuels have conducted a successful trial of mXt9 (originally named Clear mXt) at Regional Container Lines (RCL). The results show a minimum reduction in fuel consumption of 12%. So, consider a fuel bill of $100m USD per annum and saving $14m. To see more information about this trial click here for the full trial report.
mXt9 has been tested in many steel factories and industrial boilers. As part of energy saving tools, mXt9 has significantly improved the combustion efficiency of furnaces and resulted in the average savings of fuel oil which are upwards of 5.29%. It also almost eliminates the particles in the flue and as a consequence lowers excess oxygen in flue gas.
A trial was performed at one of the largest wire-steel production companies in Thailand, Bangsapan Barmill Public Company Limited (BSBM), which uses the billets as the steel source. The test was conducted for 4 weeks at their normal working conditions. The average comparison of fuel consumption per ton of product produced between 'before' and 'after' is tabulated below.

What mXt9 can do for your company
Reduce the company’s carbon footprint and other harmful emissions. mXt technology has achieved as much as 96% reduction in PM and consistant reductions in NOx and CO.
mXt technology has been successfully trialled by RCL in Asia (Engine Type: Hyundai MAN B&W 6L60MC, M.C.R.: 14,160 BHP x 117RPM).
The average fuel saving achieved during this trial was 9% (net).
If the average fuel bill for a typical commercial vessel (per annum) is $7.5m USD, then 9% works out to be $682,500. Imagine what that fuel saving could do to your bottom line if applied to the whole fleet.
A trial protocol would take into account propeller slip, cargo weights and ground speed, and, to exclude variations in Bunker Fuel prices, we would fix a price per tonne throughout the trial.
Evaluation
Fuel savings for all classifications of the fuel oil are expected. An important part of the trial period is the ability to analyse the results obtained through a vigorous evaluation of the mXt9. The effects can often be visible when observing the change in flame length and colour. Or, in the case of an engine, less fuel required for the same power output.
